Story

Kevin McCauley is a professional boxer with over 200 contests under his belt. If even just his previous opponents donate a fiver, we will smash out target! Chances are, if you watch boxing, you'll know someone he has fought.

During a recent interview with BBB, Kevin revealed that not only did his partner Cate suffer a spinal injury 4 years ago - leaving her quality of life compromised - but his Dad was recently diagnosed with brain cancer. He speaks of Cate, and his 2 children Lily and Harry, as his "drive" in boxing and in life.

At no point did Kevin ask us for anything but it was impossible to read about his life without wanting to help.

All too often we hear that boxing itself is a cruel sport that leaves former fighters very little in the way of support.

We know firsthand however, just how kind and compassionate the boxing community can be.

When he eventually decides to hang up the gloves (he is 41 now) Kevin has plans to set up his own gym and help future generations of boxers and even work with ex-convicts (he also holds a degree in Criminology).

How nice would it be for boxing to give him a helping hand, rather than a punch in the face?
