Weʼve raised £220 to support small charity Baroudeurs De L'Espoir, working to rebuild educational structures for Syrian refugees. It is Martha’s first race (5k).

Story
Our French friend Helene inspired Martha with her challenge: to climb the summit of du Grand Paradis, at 4061m, to raise funds to rebuild educational structures for the displaced children of Syria. Martha is running her first race (5k) at the Newstead Abbey Dash on 13th July to raise funds for the same charity as Helene: Baroudeurs De L'Espoir, in solidarity with Helene and her amazing feat. It's a small charity doing brilliant work with local partners. See www.bdle.org for more info (in French). Unfortunately it's not registered with JustGiving...yet!
The charity supports:
- Assistance in refugee camps
- Rebuilding educational structures and frameworks for children
- Sustainability of medical emergency actions in Syria
- Acting for the displaced populations in France.

6 years agoWe did a last practice run on Wednesday morning, ahead of the race tomorrow evening. Martha was very sleepy! The last week of school is getting quite busy but she had a early-ish night in bed tonight. Thanks so much for your support. We are excited about seeing friends at the race venue at Newstead Abbey, hopefully it will be a beautiful evening and not too hot! Sophie
