The Plan

This summer, we as a team have committed to spending a few weeks in East Asia, where the Church is still working on reaching out to more people.

A part of working for God in this area means being flexible and adapting as we go. So far, we know that we will be working at events put on for university students and young professionals, giving them the opportunity to practice their English by discussing particular topics in groups. The "English Corners" will help us talk about topics which naturally lead into gospel based conversations.

We are praying that these conversations will also help us build relationships with the students who come, which will allow us to share our experiences of God with them during any of the free time.

Furthermore, through sessions put on by a local team, as well as through meeting local believers, we will learn about the local Church, what it is like to live for Christ there, and the joys and challenges of being involved in Christian work overseas. We hope we will also be an encouragement to those we meet who work for God in the area!

How can you help?

We’re excited to witness how the gospel transcends cultures, borders, and languages - and we'd love to share our experiences with you!

To do that, we could use your support financially—for flights particularly, as well as accommodation and travel within the country. Our estimated cost is £1200 per person, so we’d like to start by trying to raise £4800.

We will also be needing your prayers, so please do pray that God will open the hearts of the young people whom we cross paths with, and help us be the light and salt in the area we are going to!

Meet the team:

Sophia (Xin Hwee)

Sophia is a first-year student doing psychology and philosophy at Oxford, who grew up in sunny Singapore! Sophia is excited to explore the possibilities for service and exchange in East Asia. She's looking forward to lots of good food, seeing the local sights, and above all, chatting to people and making new friends there.

Bianca

Bianca is a first-year student doing philosophy, politics, and economics at Oxford. She's from Copenhagen, Denmark, and has been to East Asia a few times. Bianca hopes to learn much more about what it means to be young in the area today, and is excited to travel around with the team!

Si Hong

Si Hong is a second-year student doing philosophy, politics, and economics at Oxford. He's from Singapore, and in his free time, he loves to run!

Luke

Luke is from London, and is a second-year studying geography at Oxford.

BEACH

We will be traveling together with our friends from Durham - together, we go by "The BEACH Team". Do let us know if you'd like to receive our news updates and prayer letter!

Thank you so much for your support!
