Story
In January 53 years ago, my dad became a new dad.
This January, my son-in-law will step into that same role.
Two generations apart, yet connected by the same life-changing moment.
Becoming a new dad is one of the most amazing experiences a man can have. It can be full of joy, pride, love, and wonder. But it can also be overwhelming. Suddenly, everything changes — responsibilities grow, sleep disappears, relationships shift, and the pressure to “get it right” can feel enormous.
For many new dads, alongside the happiness there can be tiredness, anxiety, frustration, and self-doubt. The dynamic in relationships often changes, sometimes in ways that are hard to talk about. Some men feel unsure of their role, others feel isolated, and some struggle silently because they don’t feel able — or allowed — to ask for help.
Sadly, some new dads are not involved in their newborn’s life at all, for many different reasons. Often, support at the very start could make a real difference.
That’s why Pegasus wants to act.
We want to create safe, welcoming support groups for new dads — both online and in person — across the UK. Spaces where men can talk openly, share their experiences, encourage one another, and realise they are not alone. Places where it’s okay to say, “I’m struggling,” as well as, “I’m loving this.”
These groups will be about connection, understanding, and support — helping dads navigate the emotional, relational, and practical challenges of early fatherhood. When dads are supported, families are stronger, relationships are healthier, and children benefit too.
By raising this money, we can begin building these support groups and reach new dads who might otherwise struggle in silence.
This fundraiser is about honouring the past, supporting the present, and shaping a healthier future for fathers and families.
Thank you for being part of that journey 💙
