Story
We named our daughter Beau Matilda, which means Beautiful and Brave, because that is exactly what she was. Beau was born on 18 August 2016, at 23 weeks at 6 days, weighing 1lb 4oz. She was taken into neonatal care at Jessops Hospital, where she survived for two weeks. Beau was born too soon, too small and too sick. She died on 1st September.
For the two weeks she lived, she changed our world forever, and we want her life and her memory to impact the world of other people as well. This is where you come in.....! Every year between 18 August and 1 September we want you to do something Beautiful and Brave in memory of Beau. It can be a personal challenge, or an act of kindness that helps someone else. We want you to tell people about Beau, and to share it on the Beautiful and Brave facebook page...or message us to let us know what you are doing. We want to hear your stories.
Lots of people ask if they can raise money, or donate money. This is why we have set up this page. All the money raised will go towards helping other families who find themselves in a similar position to us. It might be a family with a premature baby, or a poorly child, or a bereaved family at the start of their new journey.
We know that when we first had Beau and after she died, that it was the little things that helped us the most. We now want to be able to do the same for other families. When you are a bereaved parent, you are given life long membership to the worst club ever....which over time becomes a new way of life, and that club becomes like an additional family. You don't see it at the beginning, but the love and understanding that you come to appreciate is hard to put into words.
So.... please get involved....doing some Beautiful and Brave....share what you are doing....share this page....donate.....Beau changed our world forever, and we hope that somehow this will bring some love and hope into your world, and the world of those around you... xx
