Story
Steve refers to Gaynor as the love of his life. They were childhood sweethearts who started dating when they were in school aged 15. They have been together ever since (42 years), they have two wonderful sons, and are expecting their 2nd grandchild imminently.
Gaynor had a busy life full of friends, family and fun. Working hard and enjoying the simple rewards life has to offer. During summer 2015 Gaynor developed a numbness in her forearm, by winter 2015 she was having difficulties walking and driving.
In the last few weeks of summer 2016 Gaynor has been given the devastating diagnosis of Motor Neurones Disease (MND).
A progressive disease that attacks the motor neurons (nerves) in the spinal cord and the brain. This causes the messages to fail in reaching their destination, causing the muscles weaken and gradually waste.
As a result the individual becomes unable to walk, speak, eat, drink or breath. There is no cure.
Imagine how you would feel if this was your mother, wife, daughter, aunty, sister, grandmother, friend.
For Gaynor's husband, children, grandchildren, sisters and friends the sadness is all consuming.
This horrible disease takes lives too soon, but stem cell therapy can slow down the progression. Stem cell therapy can protect remaining functioning motor neurons and encourage them to grow in numbers. This is sadly NOT funded by our NHS.
During the summer of 2014 nearly all of us poured buckets of iced water over ourselves to raise money for this disease and most likely we had no personal link to MND/ALS.
Gaynor is real and in need of your help and support.
Can you please help us raise enough money to allow this beautiful lady to have stem cell therapy so she may enjoy as much time as possible with her family and friends.
