Becca is running a 5k for Wellgate Community Farm
Wellgate Community Farm began its life in 1982, set up by volunteers as a project which would encourage local participation in all aspects of the Farm’s activity.
The farm offers local people, schools and groups an invaluable opportunity to experience a working farm and its animals which include: ponies, cows, pigs, goats, poultry, waterfowl, rabbits and guinea pigs.
But the farm is heavily reliant on donations to keep running.
As a trustee i see first hand the impact Wellgate has on the lives of the people who volunteer at, learn at and visit the farm.
Because Wellgate is so important to me I decided it was time to really step outside my comfort zone and take on a proper challenge. So a few months ago I signed up to run a 5k. Prior to this july the only thing i‘d ever run was a bath! On October 20th I’m aiming to run a 5k fun run in 40 minutes.
Every penny Wellgate earns or raises goes towards the day to day running of the farm which allows it to carry out its vital education and community outreach work. I want to do whatever i can to support Wellgate to continue this amazing service to the community.
So please sponsor me. Running a 5k is a huge challenge and i hope it demonstrates my commitment to Wellgate and how important i believe the farm is to our community.
