Story
Each morning our papers and news apps give us small glimpses into life for the thousands of men, women and children who have travelled across continents hoping for a chance of reaching the UK. They make these journeys to escape poverty, war and persecution and now many are living in limbo in northern France. When the journalists move on the lives of these people continue and with winter approaching we can help make sure they aren't forgotten.
I will be heading over to the Refugee Women's Centre in the Grande-Synthe camp for the next few months. The centre tries to sooth the difficulties of daily life and provide an alternative to the seclusion of remaining in camp shelters. There is a kitchen for the women to cook in, a free shop for the distribution of women’s and children’s hygiene products and a clothes and shoes distribution.
I will let you all know how your donations have been used with regular updates from the camp. Thank you!
