Story

My incredible friend Beck; Full time solo boat mama has recently had to vacate her 2yr permanent mooring where her son Willow was born. Leaving her essentially homeless and now having to live back out on the canal as a continuous cruiser, having to move on every 2 weeks.

As a result Beck made the difficult decision to sell up. She single handedly finished the boat renovations and put it up for sale but is struggling to do so in this current climate. Back out on the water and unable to sell; Beck has had to reconsider all options and try to decide what is best for her and her son. Lucky for me (fellow solo boat mama) she has decided it’s best to keep their floating home that she has created for them both.

Since my daughter was born and my relationship broke down I’ve been slowly finding and bringing together a little flotilla of boat families. The perfect community to raise our boat babes, with all the love and vital like minded support that is needed to raise a child nomadically, especially trying to do it by yourself..

Beck and Willow have been mine and Eva’s OG’s since day one of a boat motherhood, that includes pregnancy. We have laughed and cried together through it all.

We now have the chance to come together and be the “village” that is required to raise a child. Beck and I are desperately trying to figure out how to get her boat here to join our little floating community where they will be joining 4 other floating boat families. But the journey is a big one! Nearly 100 locks and two long tunnels and over 100hrs of boating. Beck is a full time solo mama and she so desperately needs the support of friends and community. My daughter and I also just left our mooring and being back out on the move alone with my baby is daunting to say the least and I have community with me. We want to get her boat here so that she and Willow can feel the safety and security that we feel around us.

Having moved my boat through a meagre two locks all by myself with my daughter for the first time on Friday I know that this journey is going to be both mentally and physically exhausting for Beck to take on and honestly, likely impossible.

Can you help us get Beck and Willow to our little tribe asap by giving a donation no matter how big or small to pay for a professional Boat Mover. A boat mover could do the journey in around a week but will cost £175 per day. Whatever you can give will make such a huge difference.

All our love and gratitude
