    Story

    Hi everyone!
I'm Jacobs mummy and I'm here to tell the world our story, so please take a read.

My 5 month old bundle of joy was born on 7.06.16. And on that beautiful day, to our surprise, we also had a real big shock...
Jacob was sadly born with severe Amniotic Band Syndrome in both his little hands, which means he sadly won't have full use of either hand. (One hand has no fingers apart from a thumb and a stub finger, the other has no thumb and one fully grown index finger and two stub fingers.) So, I'm here to tell the world what ABS is, and to raise some money for my little baby to have private treatment in the near furture. I will explain the reasons why.
We had our first appointment at Great Ormand Street Hospital on the 7.09.16, and they told us that they could take two of Jacobs toes off to make a thumb on one hand, and the other to make one index finger on the other hand. We were completely heartbroken hearing this, we were hoping for so much for our little baby, as this will still mean he won't have one full hand.
This was the only option other than a plastic prosthetic hand which he will never be able to feel anything. He also cannot have this until he is 6.
I have seen lots of videos about children having more options going private, for example, in America I saw a video of a lovely little boy, he was the first person in the world to have a double hand transplant and it was so amazing.
I am now going to explain what ABS is for everyone who hasn't come across this syndrome before...
Please go to "Fundraiser Bio" and click on the link, as there was not enough typing space left. Thank you very much for taking the time to read, and if you donated then thank you so much. You will never know how much you have helped us and for how gateful we truly are. Amazing people. X

Amniotic Band Syndrome occurs when the unborn baby (fetus) becomes entangled in fibrous string-like amniotic bands in the womb, restricting blood flow and affecting the baby’s development. Please take 2 minutes and check out this website... http://amnioticbandsyndrome.com
