Story

Beneath the exotic facade of elephant tourism there is a much darker side, which consists of exploitation and mistreatment. The capturing of wild elephants is one of the threats faced by the endangered population, frequently resulting in deaths. With around 30% of the remaining Asian elephants in captivity, attention needs to be paid to preserving the population.

This summer I will be travelling to Thailand’s Chiang Mai province with Global Vision International to spend a month working with an elephant-keeping community to help reintegrate rescued elephants into their natural habitat. Alongside working with the elephants, I will be helping in the local community by teaching English to the children, women and monks.

Please donate whatever the amount. Every contribution helps to keep these elephants in protected forests, provides funding to keep the project going and offers alternative livelihoods for the local community.

Thank you!
