What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

Hi! :) My name is Rebecca Ann-Marie, I am a highly creative person trapped in a very unwell body. I have suffered from M.E./ Fibromyalgia since I was seven years old. It has severely impacted my life, I spent five years bed bound as a teen unable to wash or sit up unaided and as a result I lost out on all my education. Life has been an enormous struggle, living alone and in poverty, I have done what I needed to do to survive, it's been a living hell.

I believe that we must make the best of the cards that have been dealt to us and that is what I am trying to do. As an inspiring surfer, Bethany Hamilton once said..

I don't need easy I just need possible!.

I just want a way to earn money, make a living that doesn't send me into relapse, bed bound for weeks at a time. A way to work with my body's needs and do something positive with my creative skills.

Unfortunately I am having to claim Universal credit at present which as many people may know it doesn't cover even basic living costs and it means I have to rely on food banks to survive. I don't want this, I want to work! I want to find a way to support myself that works for my disability and health. I have had a massive struggle trying various jobs that are unsuitable for my disability and they end up crippling me. That's if I can even get an interview as I have limited qualifications and limited experience which makes finding a job very difficult. The jobs which seem most suitable for my health ie. office jobs I am not qualified for.

I believe that the best situation to support my health needs is by working from home where I can pace, rest and manage my illness without having to worry about being fired for being too sick to come into work one day because I am unable to walk or in severe pain. It's extremely hard to manage a chronic illness especially when you are alone with no support from family or friends, no support from doctors, no treatment or medication options and there is a whole ton of misinformation and stigma to battle against with an illness that is underfunded and neglected by the state but yet affects 250'000 people in the UK and around 20 million worldwide.

Life for me is like climbing mount Everest every day after running a marathon. But I'm determined that through all the adversity I face there has to be a way! I am not put on this earth to simply watch my life fade away. I desperately want to live, to be self sufficient and independent. I desperately want to get better but I cannot do this in poverty. My creative skills cannot blossom in poverty. It is extremely frustrating to know what your capable of but never ever being able to go for it due to circumstance. I did a Btech level 3 diploma in Art & design a few years ago and I achieved triple star distinction. It was the the best thing I've ever done and from that came a glimpse of what I may be capable of and how much I adore using my passion for creativity and design. Currently I am doing a part time degree in English Literature with the Open University. I just need a way to support myself through my education because the government stopped any loans or grants for Open University students. I need a way to work that works for my body. All I need right now is the start up money to kit my kitchen out with a few basic items; table stool, shelves. I have a ton of cake making equipment so I'm ready to go. I have been invited to sell my cakes at a Burlesque event which I am super excited about but I can't do that without having the basic set up. Please support me, whatever you can offer I am so grateful for.

I believe that we raise ourselves by helping others and this will be my bigger aim, when I can become stable financially in my business I would like to be able to donate a portion of my sales to or have regular charity bake sales for, a charity that helps to provide funding for biomedical research for M.E. Myalgic Encephalomyelitis so that things like a bio-marker, proper diagnosis and a cure can be found.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. With love, light and cake sprinkles.. Becky Xxx

**My first Kitchen aid, I was super excited as you can tell :D **

I was always a creative girl, writing, art, drama music and any kind of crafting was my love! My mum was a cake decorator and I was often off school sick so I would watch or help her make the cakes. This inspired me a lot. I got M.E. when I was 7 & life stopped in it's tracks.
