I'm Alex, I’m 20 years old and I’m a full time student studying psychology and counselling and I work part time in McDonald’s - I am a transgender campaigner within Wales and I work with a variety of different charities and organisations to make sure young transgender individuals have their voices heard. I came out as transgender when I was 15 years old, I battled to get treatment on the NHS from the age of 17 until now and sadly I was finally put onto the GIC waiting list in December. I decided to go private for hormones when I turned 18 years old because I needed to do it - and I started hormones on the 15th of August 2017!! - Right now I'm looking at a 3/4 year waiting list for my top surgery and I can't mentally, physically and emotionally wait that long as I want to get it over and done with so I can live my life to the fullest (at the moment i'm unable too due to binding and my dysphoria). I am currently looking at getting my top surgery done by Miles Berry because his results are the ones I've liked the most. However, with him being located in London I will need to save up extra money for travel and any accommodation costs associated with travelling there and allowing a family member to be with me whilst going through such a life changing surgery.

Without any of the extra travel costs etc, top surgery is going to cost me £6095. I am working and have currently saved around £2000 pounds towards my surgery. I am looking for some help towards gathering some of the rest. Having to wait is effecting not only my mental health, but my physical health with binding hurting my back and causing me anxiety all of the time.
