Weʼre raising £15,000 to help fight food insecurity in Beirut

Beirut, Lebanon

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Over 55% of the population was estimated to be living below the poverty line, with almost 1 in 4 Lebanese living in extreme poverty even before accounting for the poverty impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the most vulnerable. As the total lockdown has brought the economy to a complete halt, today informal workers are left to fend for themselves, with the most vulnerable families no longer able to meet their most basic needs. With food prices increasing fivefold just over the past year, certain foodstuffs are now already beyond their reach.

In these trying times for Lebanon, Bedayati is accelerating its efforts to help fight food insecurity. Through our Community Kitchen, we have been providing wholesome meals since June 2020 to those who need them the most in Beirut. In response to the Beirut blast, we have ramped up our efforts, extending our kitchen service to the affected neighborhoods with over 25,000 meals offered so far.

You can help support our mission. Your contribution will fund our community kitchen, providing hot meals to those who need them the most, whilst helping to create short-term employment opportunities for youth whose education and job prospects have been impacted by the crisis.
