Story
The Coleopterists Society of Britain and Ireland (ColSoc) aims to promote the study of beetles by all entomologists and anyone interested in the natural world. We support and engage with beetle recording in Britain and Ireland, foster conservation through alliances, monitor new and invasive species and create an inclusive space that welcomes everyone.
The ColSoc website https://www.colsoc.org/ provides information for its supporters on recording standards, identifications sources, latest news, relevant publications and forthcoming events. This includes ColSoc organised Field Trips to sites that are either of particular interest or are currently under-recorded.
In order to encourage people to engage with the recording of beetles ColSoc does not charge its supporters a membership fee. However, while we aim to keep our costs to a minimum, running Field Trips and maintaining a website all incur costs. In order to continue with our work, we are appealing for donations to cover these costs and enable the Society to continue to promote the recording of this very important group of insects. In the future, as ColSoc grows, we aim to become more active in promoting the conservation of beetles but we can only do this with your help and support.
