Story

The Film

Our film opens in a rocky stage of a homosexual couple's relationship, and goes on to detailing the conflict between returning home and remaining with a lover. Rafa is 26-year-old artist who is struggling to make something of his work and Eric is a 28-year-old art teacher who provides for the two of them amid Rafa's failing career. The two share a close and beautiful bond that is challenged when arduous circumstances heighten Rafa's longing for home, and in turn an obsession for the feeling of being submerged in water as he experienced so often in his youth.

Why we want to make it

Everyone relates to the feeling of belonging somewhere, and no matter how exciting living somewhere new may be you'll always feel the draw of simply returning home. This is a personal and ambitious film for us, the co-directors of the film, and the message in turn is a relatable and poetic grounding for creating something that is unique visually, sonically and tonally. In lieu of the films of creatives such as Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Pasolini, the film will be elegant and realistic, but will take time to abstractly explore the feelings of protagonist Rafa.
