Story

I have never seen more distressing images than those of the treatment of the dogs and cats of Bekaa in Lebanon. They are subjected to unimaginable abuse. Legs tied together, left to die next to rubbish bins, to starve to death. Many have been stabbed and shot. They are nearly all skeletal, nearly all are injured.

A remarkable lady called Rawa started to help them last year. Every night she goes out to feed the strays on the streets and collects the ones dying from starvation and those injured and brings them to her small shelter. She has barely any money or support at all, hence why this is so important.

Since our much-loved driver Terry died suddenly in the summer I have been looking out for a cause that we could support in his memory. One where we could make a difference. He was a huge animal lover and I believe he would be very proud to have this legacy, to support the strays of Bekaa.

I have to give a fixed 'goal' on this site but of course we want to raise as much as possible and ideally to support this cause going forward in Terry's name.

Every penny will be felt and make an enormous and direct difference. There are no wages to pay, or running costs of a charity. All the money will buy food and enable her to treat animals that otherwise would die. She has 50 dogs and 15 puppies in the shelter currently but feeds and gives medical care to many, many more cats and dogs on the streets. Each day brings new tragic cases. There are lots of videos on her twitter account Bekaa animal rescue shelter should you wish to see her work. I've moderated the photos below as some were too distressing.

Than you in advance if you are able to help. This will really make a difference.
