This run will be in support of our friends Linzi and Andy and of course Ava with the beautiful smile. Also in support of our friends Michelle and Paul, in memory of their little girl Layla Mae Jameson..

My name is Belinda Neild and I have been accepted by the Guinness Book of records to run a marathon ‘London 2019’’ dressed as an ‘an item of stationery’ in my case a Crayola Crayon. This will be a world record attempt.

This year I needed to make the challenge more difficult to start my fundraising. Why a crayon? I’m an art teacher at Fred Longworth High School in Manchester so I felt the outfit best suited. The crayon outfit will make it harder running the 26 miles with leg width restrictions aiming to beat the record of sub 4 hours.

I have 4 months of rigorous training in front of me and I am sure with the support of British Military FItness and Salford Metripolian Athletics Club I will cross that finish line and work hard to raise as much money as I can for my chosen charities and a world record.

After passing of my mum in 2011 I channeled my grief into running and raising money for charities St Anns Hospice and Cancer Research Uk. I think to myself, if I’m running a marathon then why not raise money for charity especially in support of friends. I have decided to run for 2 charities this year, Ava’s wish and Histiocytosis UK supporting Layla’s rainbow x

My first charity is Histio UK 🌈

Layla Mae Jamieson was a beautiful happy, healthy and active six year old who loved music and performing. On the 18th December our friends Michelle and Paul Jamieson sadly lost their daughter Layla Mae to an extremely rare Immunodeficiency blood disease called Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytososis (HLH). 1.2 per million children affected each year by this disease.

Doctors know very little about this disease. If they had known earlier, with more research it could have saved layla’s life. There's a chance Layla may have survived had they diagnosed her sooner.

I will be running to raise awareness of HLH and support Layla’s rainbow 🌈 for the charity Histio Uk who support parents as well as research into this disease..

This is the reason why I need to raise as much money as I can in support of of this charity In memory of Layla Mae Jamieson, layla’s Rainbow.

The money raised for this charity will help fund the research needed to uncover the causes of HLH, diagnose early and hopefully find a cure. I hope that no other parent has to go through what Michelle, Paul and their family went through.

My second charity is Ava’s Wish 💚

Ava has quadriplegic cerebral palsy, a condition that affects the whole body. Ava suffers from chronic lung disease as well as chronic bowel condition Ava is a little girl who has lots of various conditions, she has feeding difficulties as she struggles to swallow, her food and drinks have to be made thicker so no fluid can go on her lungs.

Unfortunately Ava does not get enough physio from the NHS and is now at a vital age where she needs it. Ava’s first assessment cost £300 then it’s an additional £40 a week for a private session. Ava is unable to sit walk and crawl and if we can aim for even just one of them it would be a massive achievement.

Ava has also recently been diagnosed with osteopenia which affects your bones and unfortunately started in Ava’s knees. The funds raised will help support Ava with much needed extra Physiotherapy sessions .

Aside of all Ava's problems she's an amazing little girl with the biggest smile!. If I can help support Ava and her family by running a marathon then I hope to raise as much money as I can to make life easier for them.
