Story

Staff from Belmont Academy, Ayr are once again taking part in the Glasgow Kilt Walk, inspired by our commitment to supporting our pupils and ensuring every young person feels encouraged, included, and rewarded for their efforts throughout the school year.

As in previous years, we are fundraising to help provide end-of-year rewards trips for our pupils. These experiences play a vital role in promoting positive attendance, motivation, and achievement. From exciting trips such as Alton Towers to activities including trampoline parks, climbing walls, and cinema visits, these opportunities create lasting memories and recognise the hard work of our young people. With ongoing economic challenges, we know that some families may find it difficult to cover the costs, and our aim is to ensure that no pupil misses out due to financial barriers.

This year’s walk holds special significance for our school community following the tragic loss of our pupil, Tia. In her memory, Tia’s parents and family members will be joining us on the Kilt Walk. To honour Tia and support a cause close to her family’s heart, all funds raised will be shared equally: half will go towards supporting our pupils’ end-of-year reward trips, and the remaining half will be donated to Ayrshire Cancer Support in Tia's memory.

We are incredibly grateful for every donation and for the continued support of our wider community. Together, we can make a meaningful difference—both for our pupils and in remembrance of Tia.
