What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Friends, Romans, Countrymen,

I’m writing to ask for your support. You may not know this but a play I have written “Hell yes I’m Tough Enough” is being performed at the prestigious PARK Theatre in late April/May 2019. This once-in-a-life opportunity is something Roland and I have been working towards for the majority of our careers. Already the response has been overwhelmingly supportive, and tickets are already selling with a minimum of marketing, which is a positive sign this early on. There is also a fantastic excitement buzzing on social media.

However……..even top fringe productions cost a small fortune to put on. Funding has been cut significantly in the last three years and people simply don’t invest and support the arts anymore, unless it’s financially beneficial for them - or unless it’s a West End production with big names, corporate funding and large profits to be made. Given this environment, we were recently struck by a disaster in our preparations – our major investor and Producer has pulled out last minute due to circumstances beyond our control. We had two options. Pull the plug on the show and miss this unique opportunity, or fight tooth and nail for every penny to get this show on. We chose the latter because we are two passionate young people with a strong vision.

Now we are asking for your to support to make a donation towards our play. Whether it’s £5 or £5000, every penny will help. Please understand that we do not ask this lightly. We have already invested £10,000 of our own money because we believe in it so strongly despite many doors being slammed in our face and not being rich men. Every penny will go towards our diverse actors being paid a minimum wage, to rehearsal rooms, costumes, set design, lighting, venue hire for the 4 week run, stage manger’s fee, marketing, technical hire and much more. Roland and I are even waiving our fees as writer, director and actor just so we can get this show on.

We feel this political satire justly portrays the circus which is going on right now and reflects the pantomime which is the British democratic system. People are frustrated, scared, confused and angry at the current political environment, and so they should be! So help us put on this piece of theatre which truly reflects that.

We hope you can donate to this worthwhile cause and realise our aims and vision for this ground-breaking piece of theatre. Or maybe you know philanthropists, patrons or theatre lovers who would want to invest in our vision.

If you do not feel you are able to donate to this production for whatever reason, hopefully we will see you on opening night. If not, then thank you for your time.

Best wishes and many thanks

Ben Alderton and Roland Reynolds

Fragen Theatre Company.
