This November, I will be taking on a three-day, 280km bike ride across Morocco’s breathtaking but challenging Atlas Mountains in aid of communities who are still rebuilding and recovering from the devastating 2023 earthquake.

Kinda like doing an Ironman bike ride. Then another 100km. And 5O% more climb. And with no fan club supporters!

Inspired by my good friend Shabs, who has spent the last 12 months pulling this together, and his little legs will be pedalling along too.

We’re raising funds for Empowering Roots (charity reg no. 1212986) – a charity born from the vision of a husband-and-wife duo who witnessed first-hand the struggles faced by families in the Atlas Mountains after the 6.8 magnitude earthquake. What started as emergency relief in 2023 has now grown into a commitment to support these communities with resilience, and long-term solutions.

This winter, Empowering Roots is providing basic survival kits and food packs to families in and around the Atlas Mountain region where winter brings freezing nights, food insecurity, and isolation. These kits include warm blankets, clothing, and essential food items, offering lifelines to children, the elderly, and widows who would otherwise face the cold with nothing.

Morocco is often seen through the lens of its colourful medinas, lively souks, and surfing towns – but behind this charm are communities who quietly struggle (yet with big smiles on their face) through poverty and harsh winters.

I am fully funding the ride myself so by supporting me, 100% of your donation will go directly towards helping Empowering Roots deliver warmth, food, and hope to some of Morocco’s most vulnerable communities.
