Story
Im running my first marathon on 7 October and i'm trying to raise some money for a good cause. I previously created a page for a charity though since then I've been made aware of the news and campaign below.
My friend George has been diagnosed with a brain tumour while living in Thailand. His family are trying to raise money to cover medical expenses and fly him back home. Please donate if you can or visit the go fund me page for more information and give directly: https://www.gofundme.com/georgegannon .
His mum explains below what has been happening:
"My son George Gannon has been in Thailand for a couple of years , settling in Koh Pangan with his girlfriend Natalie Grace where they have built their own business helping islanders with their social media and websites. George even started DJing and they have a dog rescue centre and are running campaigns for environmental conservation on the island with beach clean ups and teaching both locals and travellers about plastics. Then, on the morning of Sept 25th 2018, George woke up and he had lost the ability to speak and move his legs. After a long boat trip with a team of nurses and his girlfriend by his side, they arrived at Koh Samui hospital. George has been diagnosed with a brain tumour which they believe is malignant . This may have metastasised (or spread) from skin cancer for which he was treated some 2 years ago He has no medical insurance and the bills are running at approx £600 per day. A neurosurgeon will be with him from Bangkok on the weekend of 30th/31st Sept when they will decide if they can operate. We want to, if at all possible and if they can reduce the swelling, to fly him home to be with his family here. Myself and my youngest son will be flying out as soon as we can to be with him With your help, we can stay near to the hospital and when , God willing, George is able, we can fly back with him to get medical attention in the UK Please help in any way you can. I need to be with my son and bring him home or at the very least, get the treatment he needs in Thailand"
