I'm raising £1000 to support Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support by hiking to the summit of Ben Nevis on 13 July 2025

On July 13 2025, myself, my Dad, and my best friends Lewis Moore and Ben Park will be hiking to the summit of Ben Nevis, the UK's highest mountain, to raise money for Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.
My Dad and I lost our Auntie Carole this year to cancer after battling for just over a year, despite enduring several rounds of chemotherapy treatment and surgeries. Ben also lost his Dad last year to lung cancer despite undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
Cancer affects so many people and causes so much pain and suffering for those that have it, and for those that have lost people to it. I believe it is important to fundraise and support charities that are helping to ultimately find a cure for cancer but, while we still don't have a cure, it is equally important to fundraise and support charities that support those suffering from cancer and the people around them during an incredibly difficult and painful time.
Our fundraising goal is to raise £1000, which will be split equally between Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Cancer Research UK's pioneering work into how to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer has benefitted millions of lives over the past 120 years. Over the last 40 years, cancer survival in the UK has doubled. In the 1970s just 1 in 4 people survived their disease for 10 years or more. Today 2 in 4 survive. Their ambition is to accelerate progress and see 3 in 4 patients surviving the disease by 2034.
Macmillan Cancer Support provide vital cancer services, research and campaign to achieve better cancer care, and support the cancer workforce. In 2023, their services reached and supported an estimated 2.3 million people affected by cancer, and their nurses, support workers and palliative care nurses reached approximately 730,000 people living with cancer.
