Story

Since 2000, Abingdon School has been supporting the work of AGAPE, a charity working with young people in Moldova, the poorest country in Europe.

I was due to join the annual Sixth Form visit to Moldova to run a summer camp for disadvantaged Moldovan children in July and although it is now looking unlikely this will go ahead we are still keen to raise money to support the children and their families.

We are aiming to raise funds to buy practical support packages containing items such as seeds and chickens for families who are struggling so we have been set the challenge of running 398km, the distance that the River Dniester flows through Moldova. We should have been doing this on one day at school but are now finding ways to do this from our homes.

I would be grateful for any donation, no matter how small, to help these families who are already disadvantaged by poverty but are now also struggling with drought in their region and the threat of Covid-19 in a country with limited resources to cope.
