I've raised £200 to 'Clean Clothes Campaign' - a group dedicated to improving working conditions and empowering workers in the global garment industries.

RUNNING 10K IN SWANSEA TO RAISE MONEY FOR 'CLEAN CLOTHES CAMPAIGN' 2 seasons a year has become 52. The garment industry has become encased in the monopoly of fast fashion, which revolves around big high Street brands looking for competitively priced contracts from third world 'sweat shops'. This generally ends in the contract holders cutting corners such as health and safety, in order to offer lower prices to the supplier so that contracts can be won and business continues. The poor working conditions pose real threats to workers there, an example of which is health and safety in the workplace. The 8 storey office block collapse in Bangladesh goes to show just how much production costs are avoided. Thinking directly about the source of the clothes we buy on a daily basis is the first step towards positively impacting the welfare of these workers in third world countries, and by avoiding mindless consumerism, change can be made.
