Story

Many of you will know that in October 2022, Cameron, my childhood best friend, lost his long battle with mental health. Cam had a place in the London Marathon to run for Mind and was determined to make a difference for those battling with their own mental health or having suicidal thoughts. Sadly, Cam will never have the chance to run that race in April but myself and some other friends and family have decided to run The London Marathon 2023 in his memory, determined to complete his mission to make that difference in the world of mental health. Please dig deep to support this cause, extremely close to my heart, as every single penny will be used to help others that are now struggling as Cam did.

The money raised will go towards a charity the amazing Smart family are in the process of registering, Cameron's Companions. Cameron's Companions will aim to help anyone facing the same suicidal thoughts that Cameron used to have. The charity will be an informal, easy, fast track service. It won't require a doctor's referral, nor will it ask a tonne of questions. It won't have an 18 month wait to talk to a specialist, as many have sadly experienced.

Cameron was a very talented runner, we were always joined at the hip unless he was running miles ahead of me! My fondest memories include playing sport together all day everyday and being called a pair of blithering idiots. Cam didn't need anymore siblings (he has 7 already!) but we were like brothers, celebrating Liverpool's Champions League win together in Madrid 2019 will always hold a special place in my heart. I will miss him and he'll be in my thoughts always.
