Help Keep our Lights On!
For over 40 years the annual Benenden Players Pantomime has brought huge delight, not just to those in Benenden, but also to many, many people who come from far and wide (even Surrey!) to see our show.
Now we face our biggest challenge yet: our tungsten stage lights and control board are very old. Due to new regulations currently out for consultation, we need to replace these with modern LED, power-efficient lights over the next couple of years. These will cost £14,000! Whilst we always invest in improving our kit from any surplus from our shows, it will take many years if we have to rely on profits alone. Which is why we have launched The Benenden Player’s Lighting Appeal with the aim to raise £10,000. This would mean we can get most of the kit in the next 6-12 months.

Our Community is at the heart of our Panto
Every year our Panto involves about 50 volunteers – including 25+ youngsters - on and off stage. We rehearse twice a week for 4 months before staging 5 sell-out shows in the Benenden Village Hall watched by 850 people. Not only is it a popular community event, the Panto does a lot for local children. We see them grow in confidence and work hard together acting, singing and dancing. We try to keep up the momentum: this year we've run a free drama summer school in cohoots with the Benenden Bonfire society, contributed to our village hall stage curtains, organised a WW1 Centenary Event, and in previous years we've helped to fund a new village defibrillator.
