I've raised £200 to Help increase schools funds for the school in Beng Mealea, Cambodia.

I was very lucky to spend 4 weeks of the summer holiday's in Cambodia, doing project work aimed at improving the lives of rural Cambodians.
I spent 1 week in a town called Beng Mealea, in the Siem Reap province. Here I worked at the school - both a primary and secondary school - to improve the landscape of the grounds. I built walls, dug trenches and flattened uneven paths.
Our camp manager, Han, had explained of the severe lack of funding schools have encountered. The government simply do not make funds available. Teacher's wages are one of the only things paid for; with teachers receiving $120 per month. Unfortunately these payments are also sporadic, resulting in a significant lack of teaching staff.
I was lucky enough to be invited to the secondary school's end of year awards ceremony. Whilst this was an amazing experience, I also learnt of the teacher's desperation to make their school better. The principal pleaded with the parents to part with just a small amount of their precious money. It was here I donated $15, whilst a small amount of money for me, it was received with a massive round of applause. This made me think that I could do far more to help.
As a result, I told Han I would donated a portion of my wages each month to the school and also fundraise whenever I can.
So... My first fundraising venture will be when I travel to Wales to ascend Snowdon. Whilst I understand this is no great feat, I feel it is a great opportunity to raise just a small amount of money to send over to the school in Beng Mealea. I feel so passionate about improving the education of these wonderful students and would love you to help me. Thank you!
