Story

This year we are hosting the 72nd show which began in 1946 as a living memorial to those who served in the World Wars. The show is an annual day of celebration and entertainment for all.

The show includes various flower, produce and handicraft classes including children’s categories and a dog show so there really is something for everyone! We are also running a scarecrow competition, last year attracted Donald Trump, Mary Poppins and Ed Sheerhan! This year we are marking the centenary of the end of the First World War by encouraging scarecrow and childrens fancy dress entries along a historic theme.

Although the show’s purpose is not primarily to make a profit, any that we do is returned to local clubs, charities and community projects. In previous years we have donated to the play area on the village green, the new football facilities and the new pre-school premises. This year we are looking to support our local history group.

We tread a fine line between donating money to good causes whilst retaining sufficient funds to cover show costs and avoid losses in the event of bad weather. Hence our attempt to raise money in advance of this years show on the 12th August.

Not only will we have all class entries on display in the marquee but we will be joined by Woodbridge Excelsior Brass Band, Steff the Bubbleologist, Gypsy Dreams Belly Dancing and lots more! Further information can be found at www.benhall.org.uk/the-annual-show

We hope to see you there and thank you for reading this page and making a donation.
