Story

As a serving soldier in the British army that's had depression whilst serving I know only too well how hard it is to get help once asked for. My depression was not work related but did affect my work.

Once I came forward for help it was up too 6 months waiting before I even had a consultation with DCMH (departments of community mental health) between the time of waiting I had no phone call check ups no contact just left with my own thoughts and too much time to ponder.

I don't blame anyone from the medical centre as I know there are plenty of serving soldiers who are battling there own demons day in day out but i feel there is plenty of room for improvement for those that are waiting to speak to a professional.

The thing is if its hard too get help whilst still serving then how hard is it too really get the help veteran's need once they have left, once they have served their country, bearded arms and gone to war when others wouldn't

We all know the national health service (NHS) is stretched and pushed to its bear limits but surely the government could do more to help those that did their part to protect this country,
