Story
Walking 4 Hope are a local Charity (Registered Charity No 1202602) who support families and young people struggling with their MH & suicidal thoughts; alongside parents who have lost their children to suicide. The Charity aims to provide peer to peer support utilising walking & activities in the countryside to improve both physical & MH - walking and talking. The Charity also runs weekly peer to peer MH support groups in Mansfield.
From spring until summer this year you will have witnessed several ongoing fundraising challenges, ranging from the national car rally Benidorm or Bust followed by 3 gruelling extreme hiking challenges. All exceot one were successfully completed as per below with a full update.
Thank you so much for all of your on going support and donations.
Due to horrendous storms the last one consisting of 2 laps of the Yorkshire 3 peaks resulted in completing just the 1 lap through pure darkness with sideways hail stone storms, thundering and lightning, and smoggy visibility giving us 2 meters view ahead of us through most of the storm which lasted for several hours.
This was by far the most difficult physical challenge Brett and John had taken on.
There will be a third one joining the team for the last challenge of 2023
Please welcome Adam Harris.
The grand finale is approaching fast, THIS MONDAY 17TH JULY will be the anniversary of Jakes death, the main influence behind why all this is being done, so that other parents and friends don't have to go through the trauma and suffering of losing a child, friend or family member to suicide, and if you are unfortunate to do so, then Walking 4 Hope will be there for you.
