Despite Uganda’s wealth in natural resources, living conditions for large sectors of the population remain very difficult.
Additionally, Uganda is an extremely young nation, nearly half of the country's population is younger than 15 years of age on average.
In Uganda, 2,700,000 children have lost either One or Both their parents!
Thousands of Ugandan children are growing up without adult guidance and care because of malnutrition and deteriorating health issues due to poverty.
The national poverty level has increased, the Uganda Bureau of Statistics public figures now puts the total number of poor Ugandans who cannot afford three meals a day to 8 million!!!
What's the plan?
To raise up to £4,320 pounds alongside the SOS Villages Entebbe (Uganda) Project, in order to sponsor a family of 12 siblings for 12 months.
For just £30 month we can all sponsor one child each for an entire 30days, thus £4,320 will ensure all sibling can stay together and be cared for the whole year.
These 12 children tragically lost Both parents to the AIDS epidemic.
The eldest is 13 years old and the youngest sibling is only 2 years old!
Based in Bugado town in the Ekayuga district, only 45mins away from SOS Village Entebbe!
They are currently surviving on foraged fruit scrapes, sometimes having to share 2 Mangoes amongst all 12. Alternately having to starve for several days, until local neighbours have the means to spare them maize floor to make Kawunga (African porridge).
Our partner, SOS Villages Uganda (www.soschildrensvillages.org.uk), is a UK registered charity (reg no. 1069204) which has been able to provide a secure family upbringing, education and health care to almost 17,000 unsupported children.
Once the money has been raised, we will arrange transportation from Bugado to Entebbe to bring all 12 children to SOS Village Entebbe where they will receive the following:
• A safe and nurturing home
• A loving SOS Mother
• Quality education
• Nutritious food
• Clothing and toys
• All the things necessary for a bright future
