I've raised £2000 to The Shaun Woodburn Memorial Trustees & The Citadel Youth Centre

The purpose of the Shaun Woodburn memorial Trustees is to raise funds for children up to 18yrs of age and to help them in any sporting endeavour that they have. The fund is registered as an SCIO in Scotland and is registered with the appropriate government bodies. The funds generated will be used to help individuals, and clubs to purchase equiptment to be used in any sporting endeavour, football, rugby, hockey, basketball etc, these funds will only be used within Edinburgh and the Lothians and focusing on the more under priveliged areas of our community. Shaun was a very talented young man, and not only in a sporting sense. He regularly sponsored and mentored others in various ways , particularly fitness, and the trustees are all family and close friends of Shaun , and as such we are determined to keep his legacy going forward into the future.
The Citadel Youth Centre is a community based youth centre that has been working with children, young people and their families in Leith since it started in 1980. Over the last 39 years the services at the Citadel have grown to meet the demands of the local community with youngest members being newly born babies who come along to the crèche as part of the young mums group through to local older people (some 90+ years) who take part on our intergenerational café ‘New Spin’. The main focus of the work continues to support young children and youth in the 5 – 21 year age range.
Your support would allow us to:
• Continue running open youth clubs 5 nights per week for local young people who come together to meet friends, enjoy a range of activities and access support from our youth workers
• Run our young mums group for young girls 14 – 21 years who have one or more children. The Young Mums group offers a crèche, a space to have lunch together and safe space for young mums to chat and support each other in dealing with the challenges of being a young mum.
• Offer employability support to young people 15 – 24 who have left school and are struggling to gain qualifications, work experience and ultimately – secure a job.
• Continue our intergenerational practice with local older people who often feel isolated and alone. Our New Spin Café offers them a space to meet each other, make new friends old and young, enjoy a snack lunch and take part in workshops and occasional trips to exhibitions and shows.
By offering your support to the Citadel you will be supporting the staff and volunteers to continue offering a safe space and place for everyone who is part of the ‘Citadel Family’.
