As a volunteer with G-united Kenya, one of my main duty is to promote literacy among the young learners whom i handle. We began this journey of literacy in reading in the montg of May 2017, the progress has been great with most of the learners making strides in their reading, moving from one level of reading to the other. For these learners to realize litetacy in other areas of study, literacy in reading must come first. I had initiated with them an afternoon reading program which would motivate them to read more. Reading also helps the widen their scope of imagination and reasoning. In as much as they have grasped the idea and would want to continue with it, they face a challenge of shortage of proper books. For this reason i appeal for support from friends, family and well wishers to help fundraise to purchase more books. Mostly story books for between ages 9-14.
