    Story

Chances are that you're visiting this JustGiving page because Ber is one of the most thoughtful, caring, giving and funny people you've ever met. Or one of your friends / family members have told you just how amazing and important she is to their life. Ber is one of those people who makes you feel like the most important and interesting person in the room. You look back on a few hours with her and smile because you haven't laughed so much in ages.

In March 2017, Ber went in for surgery to remove her appendix in what was a routine procedure. After a lot of pain (and swearing), she was released from hospital and told to come back for a normal check-up in a few weeks. She returned to the hospital expecting to hear that her personal trainer could continue to inflict torture upon her in the gym. Instead she was told that they had found Neuroendocrine Cancer in her appendix and it had spread to her liver.

The good news is that Ber is doing very well and responding to the chemo treatment. The tumour is shrinking and she finished her last round of chemo in August. To celebrate this major achievement, she and some friends have chosen to participate in the Shine Night Walk in London on Sept 23rd and raise money to give back to the organisation who are working so hard to save her life.

Many of you have asked how you can help. This is your chance! It would mean the world to Ber to turn these circumstances into something positive so please help by donating generously in Ber’s name through this JustGiving page. All donations will be given to London’s Royal Free Hospital Neuroendocrine Cancer Unit’s active research programme that is dedicated to furthering the understanding of what causes neuroendocrine cancer, how it grows, how it can be detected earlier and also for the development of new therapies. Royal Free is one of the world's leading research units for this rare form of cancer, therefore your donation really will make an impact.

These are the people saving Ber’s life and we want to ensure they can continue to do so for all patients of any age who need their help.

Special thanks to the friends and family who are joining Ber on the Shine Night Walk: Kay O'Flynn, Rosarie O'Flynn, Norma O'Flynn, Jacqueline O'Flynn, Karen Murphy, Laura Murphy, Treasa Davitt, Julie Corish and Hillary Tidy.
