My name is Bernie, and soon I will be setting out on a trek across the Sahara Desert.

This challenge is personal.

It's a tribute to my brother Ant, whose strength and spirit continue to inspire me every day. It's also in honour of Joe T., whose tireless work through his foundaton brings hope to children and families - just as Derian House Hospice does.

I am dedicating this trek to Maxine Hayden from After Matters, who stands beside brain injury survivors and their loved ones, offering support when the road ahead feels uncertain.

As I walk through the vast silence of the desert, I'll be carrying their stories and the stories of so many others -every step of the way.
