Story

Gorgeous Bert Needs an Operation

I really appreciate the cost of living increase and how many people have their own struggles. I feel sorry to ask people if they would like to help when there are so many people in need of help too. But thank you if you do want to help.

That said, I have a small family of 2 young kids, Ava and Elliot and our truly beloved cat is in need of some funding for an operation that we cannot afford.

Bert is a one-of-a-kind true gent. He's never scratched anyone, he has put up with 3 years of infants and toddlers giving him 'love' and never shies away from company. When people meet Bert they take a little of him home with them. He is such a star and as such when he was ill he hid it very well.

Bert has pyothorax which is fluid in the chest cavity which is crushing his lungs and heart. We have insurance and some savings, but that will run out in a few days and although the drug (antibiotics) and chest drain could save his life, without an operation to find and fix the cause, it may return very quickly.

I feel almost ashamed to ask for my cat's treatment but the many people I have broken the news to have said I should do this as Bert deserves a chance and is worth the punt that there are enough animal lovers out there!

Thank you for any amount you can donate!

I know Bert loves life and knows he is very loved and I feel devastated I am going to have to look my bud in the eye and say I cannot afford to help you live.

For transparency, I have included a picture of a bill for his initial treatment at an out-of-hours clinic which show a thoracentesis, which was the emergency procedure to drain his chest of fluid.

UPDATE

Bert is coming home tonight, they have seen a suspect poss. foreign body, cyst or scaring near his lung. He may get better, or may deteriorate fast and then we need to make a call for surgery or to say goodbye. He loves life so much and everyone loves him so much it will be so hard. Cross your fingers and if you can donate to increase the chances we can get him operated on. x

Ava meant in the 'boot' of the car (Don't worry we removed the back shelf) and Bert was meowing to her for reassurance :
