I've raised £1250 to rebuild houses in New Orleans

In association with lowernine.org, I plan to head out to New Orleans after my graduation to help rebuild the home destroyed by the levy-failure during Hurricane Katrina. Nearly 15 years after the disaster, many people are still without their homes; furthermore, those who have homes are mostly the victim of scam builders who conned them out of money with shoddily repaired houses which fall victim to terrible weather and termites. Lowernine has been working tirelessly to help those affected by the damage but are always looking for new volunteers.
I fell in love with the city of New Orleans during the brief time I spent there, however, one cannot ignore the rampant inequality just east of the river. It seems ridiculous to me that such a city, one that is a major hotspot for tourism and fun, can still have such disparity to this day. Especially so long after the initial disaster.
The money I'm raising will go towards the cost of travelling and volunteer fees while I'm abroad. A small fraction of it will also go towards filmmaking equipment to help me report on my experience and create a documentary about the good lowernine is doing for the community and the experiences of those in the lower ninth ward.
Any little bit really helps.
