Story

Llandyfeisant Church is a medieval church situated on the Dinefwr estate , Llandeilo West Wales. The church was once an important part of every day life to the local community and was used by both the gentry and the servants of the estate. During the 1970's the land on which the church is situated was leased to The Welsh Wildlife Trust and in the early 1980's the church was open to the public as a Wildlife Information centre and was enjoyed by families to come and have a safe place where children could learn about nature including having a simulated badger hide which was very popular at the time with children, sadly the church was deemed to be unsuitable to remain open to the public and it's doors have been closed since …. Until now !! Last Summer I visited Llandyfeisant having not been there since the '80's and was so disappointed at the sight of the truly beautiful building looking so sad and forgotten about, I decided to start a Facebook Group Friends Of Llandyfeisant Church Dinefwr Park Llandeilo and before too long it became quite obvious many other people also felt very passionate about the little church and the lovely tranquil setting surrounding the church with it's fabulous array of wildlife , foxes , badgers , bats, all kinds of birds including Owls, tree creepers , nuthatch, woodpeckers etc.We need to raise funds to restore the church and to be able to secure it's future so that it can , once again be enjoyed by our community. We have formed a working party of individuals who are on board with some great ideas but we do need some funds and would be most grateful if anyone would like to support our cause. This is not just a project about saving a derelict church, it is a project about preserving a fundamental part of our community and preserving the natural habitat of so many species of wildlife that live in the surrounding area .Thank you for taking the time to read.
