Story
I am part of a team of 10 students going on a volunteering expedition to Borneo next year to live in a local community and work on a community project to improve the well-being of locals. We will also be spending time in Sepilok Orangutan sanctuary in order to help with the rehabilitation of the beautiful victims of deforestation, before trekking into the rainforest to further witness and understand the devastating consequences of deforestation and the palm oil industry. The last challenge is based at the Sun Bear Conservation Centre where we will involve ourselves in developing the habitat in which this endangered species live in. By taking part in these activities, we will be contributing to the “17 Global Goals” which aim to solve the world‘s greatest issues. As well as helping others, This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, run by Outlook Expeditions, will give us an experience of responsibility and useful and practical skills to take with us into our futures.
In this upcoming year, we must individually raise £2500. To raise this money, I am going to be doing bag packing, car washing, sponsored runs, quiz/bingo nights and much more. This is a challenge I am willing to take part in however any donations to contribute to this expedition and work we will be undertaking will be greatly appreciated.
