What is crowdfunding?

Story
I am trying to raise money to fund a trip to Peru with camp international to help improve the quality of the locals lives. I will be taking part in community projects from building houses to playing with local children. The activities I will be taking part in will have good long term effects on the community and bring about much needed change to an area.
