Story

3 years ago I spent some months volunteering at the Kais Kids Children's Home in a rural village in Cambodia. The staff and the incredible children here stole my heart, but unfortunately the odds are stacked against them and acquiring even the basic necessities is difficult. In particular there has been a recent severe water crisis and supplying enough clean drinking water for these children has been extremely challenging and expensive. Without this facility these children would be left incredibly vulnerable, particularly those with physical and neurological disabilities- of which many are effected, and some in need of sophisticated medical attention. It is a very basic facility which makes living conditions (water, electricity etc) temperamental. It is not government funded, so survives solely on the generosity of donors. The facility is dedicated to improving the welfare of these beautiful and amazing but disadvantaged children, to give them the best possible chance despite their circumstances. This year I am so excited and grateful to have the long awaited opportunity to head back to Kais to work (teaching and childcare) again! Accompanied by my parents (both teachers) we will aim to take over as many clothes and resources as we can carry. As funds will much go further in Cambodia than here in Britain, we will also make purchases of necessities and toys (and anything else in between) for the Home whilst we are there, alongside the cash donation made, and this is where the funds on this page will go! I have seen first hand the joyful and educational impact the donated funds and resources have, and I cannot emphasise enough how deserving each one of these children are of it. Please give what you can it will make a huge difference!
