    Story

My name is Bethany Morrison. I live in Darlington, County Durham. I have been in a relationship with my boyfriend, Tom, for 2 and abit years. Last year I fell pregnant, me and Tom were so happy and had both of our family around us supporting us. We were so excited to have our first child. I went for my first ultrasound on the 29th of August 2015, I was so nervous but so excited at the same time. The ultrasound technician started of as normal. Then she looked really worried. I asked what was up and she told me that my cervix was covered in cysts and that my baby had no heartbeat. I had had a 'Partial Molar Pregnancy'.

A partial molar pregnancy is where the chromosomes form abnormally and lead to the fetus not developing properly or not developing at all. I was so confused and upset but the doctors and midwives helped me through it. About 20 minutes after my scan I was told I would have to be brought back into hospital 2 days later for an emergency D & C where they would use a hoover like piece of equipment to remove the abnormal cells and fetus from my womb. Molar pregnancies are VERY rare and only occur in roughly 1 out of 1000 pregnancies. After my D & C i needed close monitoring from Sheffield Trophoblastic Disease Centre incase the molar pregnancy grew back which would be known as Gestational Trophoblastic Disease. On the odd occasion for some unlucky women it can turn to a nasty cancer called choriocarcinoma.

I feel that raising money for Sheffield Trophoblastic Centre would enable them to hopefully invest in some new equipment that could diagnose a woman with an Molar Pregnancy early on. This way it saves the few women who have Molar Pregnancies from putting themselves in unneccasary danger.

Also for the few women like me who have suffered a molar pregnancy, I feel that it would be fantastic to raise money for a special counselling team that would be able to help us with our emotions and dealing with our pregnancy loss. Id be SO grateful for donations
