Story

Long before I ever heard of Angelman Syndrome, I thought of Bobby as the angel in my life. He isn't able to do the things that most of us take for granted or to make his own decisions about how to live his life. Sometimes he gets frustrated when people don't understand what he's thinking or feeling. He has to go where others send him and to do what others want him to. Yet he never holds a grudge, never feels sorry for himself. Instead he flashes that smile and looks for the fun. Life is all about making connections with the people around him. Bobby has the sunniest disposition and loves the world more than anyone I know. For the past two summers so many of you-friends, family, friends of friends, people we've briefly encountered in our daily routine- have joined together to give Bobby an incredible gift. You've sent him off to Camp Anne on an 11-day adventure full of the magic he thrives on. During those days, he walks around the campus like a king. (I know; I've accompanied him, and every single person we passed greeted him cheerily by name.) He gets his own young counselor/ BFF who is devoted just to him. Everyone is happy, energetic, and kind, and he is allowed to do whatever he wants and to go wherever he chooses. There's a pool (with the most wonderful lifeguard who sometimes allows him in early!), a lake with boats, swings surrounding a fountain that he can splash in, a stage with live entertainment, lots of music, endless fresh air, and so much more than I could ever explain. In other words, it's a Bobby wonderland! Please help get Bobby back to camp next month by making a small donation or by sharing this.
