I've raised £1000 to The Stephen Bailey Suite at Alexandra hospital. A private room for families to spend valued time with their loved ones in their final days.

On the 26th of January 2019 a legendary and well loved woman called Betty Hurdle passed away in the Stephen Bayley Suite, Alexandra Hospital at the age of 87.
For four days Betty was surrounded with loved ones that cherished her cared for her and were able to say their goodbyes in as much or as little time as they needed to. Her daughter, grand daughter and great grand daughter were able to sleep and stay in the suite the entire time, never leaving her side.
We were able to play her favourite songs, fly me to the moon was one of them, we were able to sing to her, share stories, bond and feel reassured that Betty was never left alone. More importantly our experience was comfortable, we could sleep, brush our teeth, have a shower, eat and drink. There was enough room that multiple family members could come together in some of the hardest but most important days of our lives. The suite was often referred to as a "home from home" and as a whole we all couldn't imagine how much harder the process would have been for all of us if we didn't get to spend those special moments with Betty.
The Stephen Bailey suite relies on funding to support its existence, it is also in need of some modifications to help make it more comfortable. Betty's family want to raise money to donate to the suite and will be taking part in multiple fundraising events such as a half marathon, mud runs and much more to do so.
For anyone who has been in a similar position of losing a close loved one, you will understand how important spending time with them in peace and private can be, we hope to make sure other people have the opportunity and experience of death that we did. To have had this room within an NHS hospital and with the current pressures they are under is invaluable and special. We want to make sure it stays!
Please donate even if only a small amount for all those families losing their loved ones, to give them peace and privacy! for the Stephen Bayley Suite! for Betty!
