I've raised £1300 to provide a permanent fixture at Harwood Methodist Community Centre to enable the “Hub” to continue for the community of Harwood and beyond .

It all began when Sarah Knight left a crate of books outside Harwood Methodist Church, in the hope that someone would swap them for some books she hadn’t read .But the donations kept on coming and soon boxes lined the entrance to the church, full of books, toys and bric-a-brac .Sarah was joined by Pam Wright, who lived opposite the church and started helping her by carrying boxes.
Beverley and Joanna (members of Harwood Methodist Church) got in touch with Sarah and Pam asking if they could put out the grub tub to collect for Urban Outreach . Sarah (a Church Steward at the time ) also got involved and we were able to move the books, with the permission of the Church Family, inside the grounds of the Community Centre.
Since then the donations of books, jigsaws , toys and bric-a -brac have continued and the ‘HUB ‘ has flourished . We open , close and sort the donations between us . Our small team also includes Abigail , along with some of our family members who have helped out too.
The Hub became a life line to so many during lockdown but amazingly it continues to grow and is proving invaluable to so many people in the local community. Hundreds of books are swapped and taken every week along with the donations of jigsaws , toys and bric a brac . The Grub Tub has provided so much to help those in need in our town thanks to the kind donations of food and other items from so many in our local community.
We feel strongly that the Hub should become a permanent fixture , to do this we need your help. We need to raise money to buy a shed or a wooden canopy of some sort , so that we can make the books watertight in the coming months and keep the Hub open in the longterm.
The Hub is a free service for everyone , however we are asking everyone who has enjoyed using the Hub and others in our local community to contribute just a few pounds each and together we can continue to enjoy the many benefits the Hub provides .
Thank you so much,
Sarah, Pam, Joanna, Sarah , Beverley and Abigail
