From Monday 27th July to Friday 31st July, I’ll be taking on something wonderfully ridiculous…

I’m travelling from Preston to Kendal along the canal on a giant inflatable yellow duck.

Yes… a duck. 🦆

Yes… for almost a week.

And yes… my daughter has already asked if she was definitely mine and not adopted after all — apparently this is the moment she’s questioning my entire genetic contribution to her life choices. 😅

But behind the madness… there’s a reason that means everything to me.

I’m doing this for Healthier Heroes CIC 💛 — a charity supporting veterans and their families.

This one’s personal.

I’ve got family currently serving in the Army, and family who are veterans. I’ve seen the pride, the strength, and the sacrifices… but also the battles that don’t just switch off when service ends.

The quiet struggles.

The mental battles.

The moments where people feel like they’re on their own.

That’s where Healthier Heroes step in — providing housing, mental health support, recovery, structure, and a real sense of belonging. They give people a second chance when they need it most.

So if paddling a giant rubber duck up a canal helps raise awareness and support for those who’ve given so much…

then I’ll take the laughs, the sore legs, and the questionable dignity that comes with it. 🦆💪

And each night I’ll be sleeping in a pop-up tent by the side of the canal ⛺ (so expect tired updates, bad hair, and probably some regret creeping in 😅)

…but it’s also going to be worth it.
