Story
Despite facing huge personal challenges in her lifetime, my mum, Bhanumati Dabhi (22.5.43 - 13.4.22) was a tower of strength for many people in their times of need.
She supported people on a personal level with practical and emotional support. She helped people in her role as a social worker and with her extensive voluntary work in Coventry. Most notably she was the leader of the Coventry Asian Blind Association - a group which identifies asian people of all faiths who have lost their sight and who are struggling to come to terms with this and helps them to find ways to lead a fulfilling life again.
My mum was a passionate believer in women's rights and also in the rights of disabled people and their carers. She would go out of her way to find those that needed her help most and to provide this for them.
The impact of her work throughout her life earnt her a Queen's Award and an Honorary Masters from Coventry University.
The Dabhi family would like to set up a project to help people in need in her memory. Mum had strong connections to Coventry, Tanzania and India so we are exploring options in these areas.
Instead of flowers we ask that anyone who was touched by the life and spirit of Bhanu Dabhi to please donate whatever they wish to our crowdfunder.
