My name is Bhavya Gandhi and starting American Football has been a decision I made upon joining university, it has opened doors for me I never thought would be available providing me with once in a lifetime opportunities.

I come from a rugby background and have always thoroughly enjoyed the competitive element of contact sports. Within a year of playing American Football, not only have I managed to pick up a new sport that I am passionate about but I have also been able to excel on the field. Having won Defensive Rookie of the Year and University of Birmingham and represented Great Britain U19 I am excited to see where this sport takes me with aspirations of stepping up into the Great Britain Men's Squad becoming an active member of the roster.

Although this year has been extremely successful it has not come without its issues and obstacles. Initially learning the rules and understanding new concepts was difficult however, I decided to commit to American Football and dedicate myself to succeeding no matter what. I hope other young athletes can read this story and gain motivation in stepping into unfamiliar environments and facing whatever problems arise and coming out better.
