Story
Context:
Over the past two years, several members of EY's Wealth and Asset Management Consulting Team have been actively exploring ways to utilise our firm's platform and influence to magnify our positive impact on local communities and beyond. This year, we've decided to embark on a challenging adventure that embodies our commitment. In February, 15 of us from across the Firm will undertake the rigorous expedition to the summit of Mount Toubkal. This endeavor aims to raise funds for two imperative causes: The British Red Cross's Morocco Earthquake Appeal and the EY Foundation. Your support and contribution would play a significant role in helping us achieve our fundraising goals and extend our positive impact.
Cause:
On September 8, 2023 Morocco was hit by a devastating 6.8 magnitude earthquake. More than 2900 lives were lost, and 5500 people injured. The earthquake destroyed countless homes, leaving thousands exposed to harsh winter conditions. The need for warm shelters, latrines, showers, and other facilities is urgent.
The British Red Cross is on the ground with local teams, and together have assisted over 50,000 affected people so far by offering immediate first aid, medical assistance, evacuation support, and providing essentials such as water, food, hygiene kits, and psychosocial support.
Your generous donations can make a significant difference. Below is a breakdown of how your donations could support those impacted by the tragedy.
£1.87 can provide a jerry can for clean water storage
£4.56 can provide a blanket
£11.01 can ensure a month's supply of toiletries for a family
£21.90 can provide a food parcel for a family for one month
£45.61 could buy a mattress for a family displaced by the earthquake.
Please donate to the British Red Cross's Morocco Earthquake appeal today and help them continue to provide needed relief.
